Does the CFA Level I Exam Remain the Same?
There are aspects of the level I exam that remain the same. The exam format is multiple choice and computer-based. The CFA exam pass rates and calculations also remain the same.
In addition, the exam tests on these ten core topics.

- Financial reporting and analysis
- Corporate finance
- Equity investments
- Fixed income
- Derivatives
- Alternative investments
- Portfolio management
- Ethical and professional standards
The test consists of two 135 minutes sessions covering all the topics in the curriculum with an optional break between the sessions.
Another aspect of the CFA exam that remains the same is the exam registration fee. However, if a candidate retakes an exam, there is a $250 rescheduling fee.
