Members and Candidates shall not engage in any professional activity that involves dishonesty, fraud, or deception or act in a way that harms their professional reputation, integrity, or competence.<\/p>\n

This does not apply to legal violations stemming from acts of civil disobedience in favor of personal convictions if the member’s professional reputation, integrity, or competence are not harmed.<\/p>\n

Application 1: Civil Disobedience<\/strong><\/h4>\n

Courney Isaiah, CFA, is an investment analyst at XAS investments. Courney is a member of Protect Environment Organization, which champions environmental protection. In his free time, Courney organizes a march to protest the government\u2019s increase in the use of fossil fuels and environmental degradation. During the protest, Courney was arrested and fined \u20ac2,000.  In the contract signed with XAS investments, any employee arrested for committing offenses within the company is immediately terminated.<\/p>\n

Under the CFA Institute  Code and Standards, the Courney\u2019s actions:<\/p>\n
