Committees can include but are not limited to the following:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Research teams.<\/li>\n<li>Analyst collaborations.<\/li>\n<li>Board of Trustees.<\/li>\n<li>Investment clubs.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Issues arise when committees are all composed of like-minded individuals who approach problem-solving with the same mindset and skills. In most cases, group members are hesitant to express dissenting opinions, especially if such opinions are out of sync with the senior team members&#8217; position. <em>Social proof<\/em> bias occurs when a person blindly conforms to the beliefs of a group. This is also known as <em>groupthink<\/em>.<\/p>\n<h2>Techniques for Mitigating Their Effects<\/h2>\n<p>In order to remedy social proof bias and improve group decision-making, teams are encouraged to:<\/p>\n<ol type=\"I\">\n<li>Promote diversity.<\/li>\n<li>Encourage dissension of opinions.<\/li>\n<li>Choose strong team leadership.<\/li>\n<li>Foster mutual respect among all members.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<blockquote>\n<h2>Question<\/h2>\n<p>Which of the following <em>least accurately<\/em> describes the inability of a group to generate innovative ideas?<\/p>\n<ol type=\"A\">\n<li>Social proof bias.<\/li>\n<li>Groupthink.<\/li>\n<li>Member diversity.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<h4>Solution<\/h4>\n<p><strong>The correct answer is C<\/strong>:<\/p>\n<p>Member diversity would engender and encourage the accomodation of new viewpoints.
