The value of equity is estimated by deducting the market value of debt from the value of the firm.<\/p>\r\n<p>$$\\text{Equity Value}=\\text{Firm Value}-\\text{Market Value of Debt}$$<\/p>\r\n<p>The value per share can be arrived at by dividing the total value of equity by the number of outstanding shares.<\/p>\r\n<p>WACC is the weighted average of the after-tax required rates of return of debt and equity. The weights are proportions of the firm\u2019s total market value to debt and equity. However, analysts may also use target weights. WACC depends on the riskiness of the cash flows. The higher the WACC figure, the riskier the cash flows.<\/p>\r\n<p>WACC is calculated as:<\/p>\r\n<p>$$\\text{WACC}= \\frac{\\text{MV}(\\text{Debt})}{\\text{MV}(\\text{Debt})+\\text{MV}(\\text{Equity})} \\text{r}_\\text{d} (1-\\text{t})+\\frac{\\text{MV}(\\text{Equity})}{\\text{MV}(\\text{Debt})+\\text{MV}(\\text{Equity})}\\text{r}$$<\/p>\r\n<p>Where:\u00a0<\/p>\r\n<p>\\(\\text{r}=\\) Cost of equity.<\/p>\r\n<p>\\(\\text{r}_{\\text{d}}=\\) Before tax cost of debt.<\/p>\r\n<p>\\(\\text{t}=\\) Marginal corporate income tax rate.<\/p>\r\n\r\n<div style=\"margin: 18px 0;\"><a style=\"display: block; text-align: center; padding: 14px 18px; border: 2px solid #2F5BFF; border-radius: 18px; color: #ffffff; font-weight: 600; font-size: 16px; text-decoration: none; background-color: #1a73e8;\" href=\"https:\/\/analystprep.com\/free-trial\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Practice FCFF and FCFE valuation with our CFA Free Trial.<\/a><\/div>\r\n\r\n<h2>Present Value of FCFE<\/h2>\r\n<p>The value of equity can be arrived at by discounting the free cash flow to equity (FCFE) at the required rate of return of equity, \\(r\\)<em>.<\/em><\/p>\r\n<p>$$\\text{Equity value}=\\sum_{\\text{t}=1}^{\u221e}\\frac{\\text{FCFF}_\\text{t}}{(1+\\text{r})^\\text{t}}$$<\/p>\r\n<p><em><strong>Exam tip #1:<\/strong><\/em> Dividing the value of equity by the number of outstanding shares gives the value per share.<\/p>\r\n<p><em><strong>Exam tip #2: <\/strong><\/em>When using FCFF, divide by \\((1+\\text{WACC})\\). When using FCFE, divide by \\((1+\\text{r})\\).<\/p>\r\n<blockquote>\r\n<h2>Question<\/h2>\r\n<p>Given the firm&#8217;s value, which of the following is the <em>most appropriate <\/em>way of computing
