You&#8217;ve decided that the <a href=\"https:\/\/analystprep.com\/blog\/your-2025-comprehensive-guide-to-becoming-a-financial-risk-manager-frm\/\">FRM designation<\/a> is something you want to pursue. The harder question is what comes next.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Should you register for Part I?<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Should you register for Part II?<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Should you try to take both exams in the same administration?<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The answer depends on where you are right now.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Maybe you&#8217;re <a href=\"https:\/\/analystprep.com\/blog\/waiting-for-frm-august-2026-results-heres-how-to-read-your-score-report\/\">waiting for an August Part I result<\/a> and trying to decide whether moving ahead with Part II makes sense. Maybe you&#8217;ve been considering FRM for a while and are only now getting serious about registering. Or maybe you&#8217;re looking at the calendar, realizing November isn&#8217;t that far away and wondering whether you still have enough time.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Whatever your situation, this isn&#8217;t really a question of what&#8217;s allowed.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">It&#8217;s a question of what&#8217;s realistic for you.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Every year, candidates wrestle with the same question:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>FRM Part 1 or Part 2 November?<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The answer is different for every candidate because no two situations are the same. For this reason, if you&#8217;re considering taking both exams, you won&#8217;t be sitting them on the same day.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Instead, you&#8217;ll take Part I first and then sit Part II during the following window.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">From a preparation standpoint, that makes a big difference.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">You can focus entirely on Part I leading into your first exam. Once Part I is behind you, you can devote your last few days to reviewing Part II material.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Many candidates discover that taking both exams is logistically easier than they initially assumed.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The bigger question is whether it&#8217;s strategically wise.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"The_Rule_That_Determines_Whether_Your_Part_II_Even_Counts\"><\/span><strong>The Rule That Determines Whether Your Part II Even Counts<\/strong><span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Before registering for both exams, there&#8217;s one rule you should understand clearly.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">If you sit Part I and Part II in the same administration and either fail Part I or fail to appear for Part I, your Part II exam will not be graded.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Read that again.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">You can prepare for Part II.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">You can spend hundreds of hours studying for Part II.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">You can sit through the entire exam.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">If Part I doesn&#8217;t go your way, Part II does not count.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">That&#8217;s the biggest risk associated with taking both parts within the same exam cycle.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">This is why the decision should be based on preparation rather than enthusiasm.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-embed is-type-video is-provider-youtube wp-block-embed-youtube wp-embed-aspect-16-9 wp-has-aspect-ratio\"><div class=\"wp-block-embed__wrapper\">\n<iframe loading=\"lazy\" title=\"Mock Exam #2 \u2013 Questions 1-10 | FRM Part I Exam Preparation | AnalystPrep\" width=\"1170\" height=\"658\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/uGwjSMchIUQ?feature=oembed\" frameborder=\"0\" allow=\"accelerometer; autoplay; clipboard-write; encrypted-media; gyroscope; picture-in-picture; web-share\" referrerpolicy=\"strict-origin-when-cross-origin\" allowfullscreen><\/iframe>\n<\/div><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">A candidate with strong mock-exam scores, consistent question-bank performance and a completed study plan is in a very different position from someone hoping things work out.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">If your reason for registering for both parts is simply to save time, it may be worth slowing down and taking a more realistic look at your readiness.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"Realistic_Prep_Time_Between_Now_and_November\"><\/span><strong>Realistic Prep Time Between Now and November<\/strong><span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Registration decisions become much easier once you honestly assess the amount of work involved.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">From late September to the start of the November exam window, you have roughly nine weeks.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">That sounds comfortable until you start looking at study requirements.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Most estimates place FRM study hours per part at roughly 200 to 240 hours.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Using 240 hours as a benchmark, you would need to average about 27 study hours every week.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">That&#8217;s a demanding pace.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The question isn&#8217;t whether another candidate can manage it.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The question is whether you can.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Maybe you&#8217;re able to study before work every morning.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Maybe you&#8217;re regularly working late evenings.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Maybe you&#8217;re balancing studies with family responsibilities.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The same nine-week period can feel completely different depending on your circumstances.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">That&#8217;s why comparing yourself to other candidates rarely helps.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">A much better approach is to look realistically at your own schedule and ask whether it can accommodate the necessary FRM study hours per part.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">If you&#8217;ve already been studying for several months and are moving into revision mode, November may be entirely realistic.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">If you&#8217;re opening the curriculum for the first time, the challenge becomes much greater.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"When_Its_Wiser_to_Wait_for_May_2027\"><\/span><strong>When It&#8217;s Wiser to Wait for May 2027<\/strong><span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">A lot of candidates think delaying an exam means falling behind.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">It doesn&#8217;t.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Sometimes waiting is simply the smarter decision.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">If you&#8217;re starting Part I preparation from scratch, May 2027 gives you months rather than weeks to prepare.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">That usually means:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Lower weekly study pressure<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>More opportunities to complete mock exams<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Better retention of the material<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>A more sustainable study routine<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Another reason candidates rush toward November is concern about future deadlines.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">That&#8217;s where it&#8217;s helpful to understand the FRM certification deadline Part 2.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">After passing Part I, you must pass Part II by December 31 of the fourth year following your Part I pass.
