What’s the smartest way to use them?”

That’s the right question.

Because the final two weeks are not about studying harder.

They’re about studying smarter.

Many candidates make the mistake of treating the last 14 days exactly like the previous four months. They keep reading. Keep highlighting. Keep watching videos. Keep adding information.

The problem is that the CFA exam doesn’t reward information accumulation.

It rewards retrieval.

It rewards application.

It rewards decision-making under pressure.

The truth is that your final score is likely to depend far more on how efficiently you can use what you’ve already learned than on how many additional pages you manage to read before exam day.

The CFA Level I August exam dates run from August 18 through August 24, 2026. Before following any revision plan, make sure you’ve confirmed your individual appointment date, reporting time, and test-center location through your CFA Institute account.

This guide is designed to help you approach the CFA Level I final two weeks with purpose.

Instead of trying to review everything, you’ll focus on four distinct phases:

Revision Phase

Days

Primary Objective

Diagnose

14-11

Identify what is costing you points

Target

10-7

Repair high-value weaknesses

Simulate

6-4

Practice realistic exam execution

Consolidate

3-1

Strengthen recall and prepare for exam day

Think of it this way:

The final two weeks are not for becoming a different candidate.

They’re for becoming a more efficient version of the candidate you already are.

Two weeks left? Questions

What Should Change During Your Final Two Weeks?

Let’s start with something many candidates don’t realize.

The activities that helped you learn the curriculum are not necessarily the activities that will help you perform well now.

Earlier in your preparation, it made sense to spend hours:

Reading study notes

Watching lectures

Learning formulas

Working through examples

Building foundational knowledge

Now the goal is different.

Your objective is no longer coverage.

Your objective is performance.

Stop Thinking Like Someone Learning the Curriculum

Start thinking like someone preparing to sit an exam.

That’s an important distinction.

Imagine two candidates.

Candidate A spends the next two weeks rereading notes from beginning to end.

Candidate B spends the next two weeks answering questions, reviewing mistakes, strengthening weak areas, and improving formula recall.

Who is more likely to improve?

Usually Candidate B.

Not because Candidate B is studying more.

Because Candidate B is practicing the skills the exam actually tests.

That shift is the foundation of any effective CFA Level 1 two-week study plan.

<iframe loading="lazy" title="AnalystPrep CFA Review (Is It Worth It?)" width="1170" Metric

Let’s be honest.

Reading 150 pages feels productive.

Finishing a chapter feels productive.

Completing another video lesson feels productive.

But none of those activities answer the most important question:

Can I get the question right without my notes?

That’s why your final revision should be measured differently.

Instead of tracking pages completed, focus on:

Topic accuracy

Mock performance

Formula recall

Error frequency

Confidence levels

Timing performance

Repeated mistakes

The candidates who improve the most in the final two weeks are rarely the ones reading the most.

They’re usually the ones learning the most from their errors.

Use Topic Weight and Personal Performance Together

One of the biggest mistakes candidates make is reviewing topics based solely on exam weight.

Another common mistake is doing the exact opposite.

Neither approach works well.

A better question is:

Which topics are both important and currently hurting my score?

Those topics deserve your attention first.

The most effective CFA Level 1 final revision strategy sits at the intersection of exam importance and personal weakness.

Performance

Weight

Priority

Weak

High

Highest

Average

High

High

Weak

Lower

Moderate

Strong

High

Maintenance

Strong

Lower

Light Review

This approach prevents you from ignoring important topics while still making your revision personal and efficient.

Days 14-11: Diagnose Before You Fix Anything

Many candidates make a surprising mistake during the final weeks.

They immediately start reviewing.

The problem?

They haven’t identified what actually needs fixing.

Diagnosis comes first.

Day 14: Take a Diagnostic Assessment

This could be:

A full mock exam

A half mock exam

A large mixed-topic question set

Whatever you choose, complete it under realistic conditions.

No notes.

No interruptions.

No shortcuts.

The purpose isn’t to generate a score.

It’s to generate information.

By the end of the session, you should know:

Which topics are weak

Which topics are slow

Which formulas you’ve forgotten

Which questions you’re guessing

Which distractors repeatedly fool you

Most candidates focus on percentage scores.

Strong candidates focus on patterns.

Patterns reveal opportunities.

Day 13: Build an Error Log

This may be the highest-return exercise in your entire preparation.

For every mistake, ask:

Why did this happen?

You’ll usually discover that errors fall into familiar categories.

Perhaps you didn’t know the concept.

Perhaps you forgot a formula.

Perhaps you misread the question.

Perhaps you rushed.

Perhaps you selected an attractive distractor.

The exact score matters far less than understanding the reason behind each mistake.

An error log turns random errors into actionable insights.

Day 12: Choose Your Priorities

Here’s some tough love.

You do not have ten top priorities.

If you have ten priorities, you have none.

Choose:

Three major weaknesses

Two secondary weaknesses

Everything else as maintenance

Your final 14 days become dramatically more effective once you’re willing to focus.

Day 11: Repair One Important Weakness

Choose your weakest high-value topic and attack it systematically.

Start with concise review.

Move immediately into questions.

Then review every mistake.

The goal isn’t simply to get questions right.

It’s to understand:

Why the answer is correct

Why the distractors are wrong

What clue should have triggered the correct approach

That last point is often overlooked.

Exam performance improves when you recognize triggers quickly.

Days 10-7: Focus on High-Value Topics

Now that you’ve identified your weaknesses, it’s time to direct your attention toward the topics most likely to influence your result.

Day 10: Ethics Deserves Your Attention

Many candidates postpone Ethics because it feels manageable.

Then they’re surprised when they continue missing Ethics questions.

Ethics isn’t difficult because the content is complicated.

It’s difficult because the distinctions are subtle.

Strong Ethics performance comes from practice.

Not memorization.

As you work through scenarios, ask yourself:

Who is responsible?

What action occurred?

Which standard applies?

What evidence supports that conclusion?

This is one of the most important <a Analysis

Financial Statement Analysis is another area where candidates often know more than their scores suggest.

The challenge isn’t always remembering the rules.

It’s seeing how the rules affect numbers.

Focus on relationships.

Ask questions like:

What increases?

What decreases?

Which ratio changes?

What does this adjustment imply?

Developing intuition often helps more than memorizing another list of formulas.

Day 8: Equity and Fixed Income

These two topics deserve serious attention because of both their weight and their tendency to produce calculation-based questions.

This is also a good time for a focused CFA Level I formula review.

But don’t just read formulas.

For every formula, ask:

What problem does this solve?

When should I use it?

What result should I expect?

A formula without context is surprisingly fragile under exam pressure.

Day 7: Secondary Topics

This day should feel lighter.

Review areas such as:

Economics

Quantitative Methods

Corporate Issuers

Portfolio Management

Alternative Investments

Derivatives

The objective isn’t deep mastery.

It’s retention.

You want these topics to remain accessible when questions appear.

Days 6-4: Stop Studying and Start Performing

This phase separates preparation from execution.

Many candidates learn a lot during months of study but never properly test themselves under realistic conditions.

Don’t make that mistake.

Day 6: Complete a Full Simulation

Use one of your CFA Level I mock exams and recreate exam conditions as closely as possible.

Start at approximately the same time as your scheduled exam.

Remove distractions.

Use your calculator normally.

Answer every question.

Track:

Accuracy

Timing

Fatigue

Topic performance

Question confidence

Most importantly, observe how your focus changes throughout the exam.

Performance isn’t only about knowledge.

It’s also about stamina.

Day 5: Review Everything

Let’s be candid.

The review is often more valuable than the mock.

Anyone can generate a score.

Improvement comes from understanding the score.

Review:

Incorrect answers

Correct guesses

Low-confidence answers

Slow questions

Changed answers

The goal is to prevent mistakes from recurring.

Day 4: Test Whether the Corrections Worked

Many candidates review mistakes and assume they’ve fixed them.

That’s dangerous.

Understanding isn’t the same as retention.

Use another simulation or large mixed question set to verify that yesterday’s lessons actually stuck.

How Many Mock Exams Should You Take?

Candidates ask this constantly.

The answer is probably less satisfying than you’d like.

There is no ideal number.

The value of a mock depends on what happens afterward.

A candidate who completes two mocks and studies the results carefully may gain more than a candidate who completes six mocks and barely reviews them.

The purpose of CFA Level I mock exams is not score collection.

It’s mistake detection.

Think of mocks as diagnostic tools.

Not prediction tools.

Days 3-2: Consolidate What Matters

At this stage, your attention should narrow considerably.

You are no longer trying to improve everything.

You are trying to solidify what matters.

Day 3: Review Your Error Log

Look for recurring themes.

Some examples include:

Missing qualifiers

Formula confusion

Calculator mistakes

Reading errors

Ethics mistakes

If you’ve made the same mistake three separate times, that’s a valuable clue.

Take it seriously.

Day 2: Rapid Recall

If you’re wondering how to prepare for CFA Level I in two weeks, this is one of the most important answers:

Practice retrieval.

Don’t just read formulas.

Write them down from memory.

Explain concepts aloud.

Use flashcards.

Work through short drills.

At this point, retrieval is often more valuable than additional reading.

Day 1: Protect Tomorrow’s Performance

This is where many candidates sabotage themselves.

The day before the exam is not an opportunity to make a dramatic leap forward.

It’s an opportunity to avoid unnecessary setbacks.

Keep Revision Light

Limit yourself to:

Formula reminders

Ethics notes

Error-log highlights

A handful of manageable questions

This stage of CFA Level I last-week preparation should feel controlled.

Not frantic.

Do Not Do These Things

Avoid:

A full mock exam

New topics

All-night study sessions

Comparing class="wp-block-paragraph">Confirm Your Logistics

A surprising amount of exam stress has nothing to do with Finance.

<p Level I if You’re Still Behind?

This is one of the most common concerns we hear from candidates.

Let’s be realistic.

Two weeks is probably not enough time to learn the curriculum from scratch.

But it can still be enough time to improve your performance significantly.

The key is prioritization.

If you’re behind, focus on:

Ethics

High-weight topics

Core formulas

Practice questions

Mock-exam review

Use concise resources.

Not because shortcuts guarantee success.

But because restarting the entire curriculum isn’t practical.

Keep your attention on activities that produce measurable improvements.

Many candidates think time management is something you figure out during the exam.

It isn’t.

Time management is a habit built during practice.

Some questions will take 30 seconds.

Others will take several minutes.

The goal isn’t perfect time allocation.

The goal is preventing one difficult question from consuming five others.

When stuck:

Eliminate exam?

The CFA Level 1 August 2026 exam window runs from August 18 through August 24, 2026. Candidates should confirm their exact appointment through their CFA Institute account.

Is two weeks enough to study for CFA Level I?

Two weeks is unlikely to be enough for someone starting from scratch. However, it can be extremely valuable for consolidation, error correction, formula review and realistic exam practice if you’ve already completed a meaningful portion of your preparation.

What should I study before CFA Level I?

If you’re wondering what to study before CFA Level I, focus on high-weight topics, recurring mistakes, Ethics, formulas, mixed-topic questions and weak areas identified through practice questions and mock exams.

What are the most important CFA Level I high-weight topics?

Ethics currently carries the largest weight range at 15-20%. Financial Statement Analysis, Equity Investments, and Fixed Income each carry 11-14%. However, topic weights should be combined with your own performance data when prioritizing revision.

Should I reread the CFA curriculum during the final two weeks?

For most candidates, targeted review, practice questions, and error correction offer a higher return than rereading the entire curriculum.
